H2N 4.1 not opening: clean reinstall with Desktop Runtime and Config
This guide is for cases where Hand2Note 4.1 does not open or keeps crashing after the basic checks.

Problem summary
First try restarting the PC, opening as administrator, checking antivirus, proxy, VPN and Windows Update. If it still does not open, the advanced path is Config backup, clean install and dependencies.

- Restart the PC.
- Open H2N as administrator.
- Check Windows Defender or antivirus.
- Confirm there is no proxy, VPN or network block.
- Update Windows.
- Try opening H2N without other poker software running.
Step by step
Steps
- Open Settings, Apps and Installed apps.
- Search for Desktop Runtime.
- Uninstall Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime 8.0.0+ versions if this case requires it.
- Restart the PC.
- Uninstall Hand2Note 4.1.
- Back up C:\\Program Files\\Hand2Note 4.1\\Config.
- After the backup, remove leftover files from the H2N folder if they remain.
- Download the latest H2N 4.1 installer again.
- Run the installer as administrator.
- Accept every dependency requested by the installer, including .NET, Desktop Runtime or WebView2.
- After H2N opens and rebuilds the install, restore Config from backup when appropriate.
Key point
Installing over the old version may not fix it. In this case, H2N opened again after old dependencies were removed, leftover install files were cleaned and the installer dependencies were accepted.
Before deleting folders
Before deleting anything, protect databases, HUDs, popups, layouts and important settings. If you are unsure, open support before continuing.
